Spanish Police Arrest Two ETA Suspects in Zaragoza.

Spanish police arrested David Pla and Aitor Lorente on Friday night in a raid in the city of Zaragoza, in northeastern Spain, officials said. The FSE searched the apartment that the two young men occupied in the Corona de Aragon street and another one in the neigborhood of Las Fuentes. Police accuse Pla and Lorente of having carried out a car bombing outside a Civil Guard barracks earlier this month and of preparing "an imminent attack" against the mayor of Zaragoza, Jose Atares, of Spain's ruling Popular Party. A government spokesman said the two young men were on a list of wanted ETA members and police were searching a safe house they were believed to have used. Police link Pla and Lorente to ETA's Nafarroa and Bizkaia (broke in 1997) commandos respectively. ETA has been blamed for eight attacks in just over two weeks in an escalation of its struggle for Basque national liberation.
